Joseph Pilates was born in 1880 in Germany and grew up plagued with rickets, asthma, and rheumatic fever; through his own determination to overcome his own health problems he developed an exercise programme to help restore him to optimal health.


Pilates is a slow and gentle mat-based exercise that works the body from the inside out. It allows you to realign or reshape your body by building upon your core strength. Pilates can appeal to people of all ages and all fitness levels. Pilates brings the mind and body together focusing on concentration, balance, precision and breathing.
